With another season of the Citrus League in the books, it comes time again for another inter-seasonal Yuzu Cup! We got an interview with our Sunyshore CybirdZ about the team's recent growth as well as their preparations for the upcoming cup!
As we're sure our regular readers know, the Sunyshore CybirdZ have been tearing through the Coronet East Division the last couple seasons after their stepping-back from the Citrus League. That said, they're not content with just winning locals! Though the full scope of the Citrus League is too much for the CybirdZ team, the short-form Yuzu Cups are the perfect place for them to flex their skills on the global stage!
Rumours are abound of what the Yuzu Cup rules will be this time, with the Yuzu Cup historically using somewhat zany, unexpected rules that don't fit well for extended league play. Word on the street is that Yuzu 5 will be using "VGC" rules, but the truth of what that acronym means remains a mystery. The leading theory is that it stands for 'Very Good Cup", which while accurate to the usual Yuzu Cup proceedings, does not do much to explain what the ruleset will actually be.
We asked a representative of the Sunyshore CybirdZ, Cydolfus Cybird, and she had this to say: "Well, we can't say precisely what 'VGC' means, non-disclosure and all, but we can say that the fans will certainly not be disappointed! We've recruited a number of new players since the last Yuzu Cup, so fans who haven't been keeping up locally will be in for some surprises! While we make no promises for results, we can say that the fans will surely be seeing more CybirdZ matches than usual this cup!" At this, Cydolfus appeared to have winked, although it was hard to tell apart from their usual twitchiness.
That's all we've got for our readers today, but we'll be keeping our finger on the pulse of the upcoming Yuzu Cup, and will be eagerly awaiting seeing our CybirdZ in the running! Be sure to pick up our next issue for the latest news!
