story

• A life-sized karakuri doll created by a pair of eccentric engineers in Japan to serve as their daughter. Gifted with a strange internal processor that allows her to reason and simulate sentience.
• Accompanies her mothers to work and out into the world, learning about life.
• After a while, was allowed to log on to the internet to learn more and interact with a wider network of people.

personality

• Appears stoic because she cannot speak and her face is static, but is actually very emotional. She has painted face plates that she can swap on and off to express emotion, but its a bit of an annoyance so she tends to stay 'neutral' unless she really wants to express something.
• Very curious about everything, asks a lot of questions. Cannot taste, feel, or smell, but loves visual and aural stimulation. Her favourite colours are bright and saturated, and her favourite sounds are rainfall and ASMR.
• Childish (because she is one) and shy, gets spooked easily and tends to cling to one of her moms when they're out in public.

other

• Doesn't have a voice synthesizer, so instead speaks through sign language and writing.
• Powered by the giant wind-up key on her back which winds a mainspring in her chest. The ticking and tocking of the escapement mechanism is analagous to her heartbeat.
• Cannot actually eat or drink, but likes to pretend to drink coffee at breakfast, mimicking her parents. This is also why she claims her favourite flavour is bitter.
