Two duskwight sit on the forecastle of a ship, looking up at the starry sky. A taller gentleman with silver-blue hair, golden eyes, and the makings of a mustache starting to set in. Alongside him his child, 13 summers old, with dark purple hair and the same golden eyes.
Suddenly, the younger speaks up. "Papa, can I ask you something?"
"Of course, son, you can ask me anything. What's on your mind?" He turns to his child, looking to make eye contact but receiving only a flinch and eyes kept skyward.
"What if... what if I wasn't your son?"
"Well, I'd sure wonder where you came from in that case! How'd you end up with my eyes, too."
"No, not like that. I mean... what if I wasn't anybody's son?"
"...I'm not sure I understand the question."
For a few moments, only the ocean waves and gentle creaking of the ship could be heard, until a sentence spoken barely above the ambience.
"...I think I'm a girl."
The older elezen blinked, unsure if he heard properly. "You think you're a girl?" His child nodded, still looking away.
He thinks for a moment, before scooping the other up in a hug. "Well, why didn't you say so earlier? I'm awful sorry we've been getting it wrong for thirteen years, so-er-dear. Does Mama know?"
A muffled "No." from the head buried in his shoulder
"Would you like me to tell her?" A small nod. "I'm sure she'll be delighted to hear, she always wanted a daughter."
"...You really think its okay?"
"Of course! Boy or girl, you're still our child, we'll love you all the same."
If one listened close, they could hear soft crying alongside the sounds of sea and ship.
"There, there, kiddo, everything's alright. Let's get you to bed, Papa has an important call to make."
(Bonus Scene)
A small Lominsan home, later that night. A duskwight woman is woken by the sound of a linkpearl. Rubbing her eyes, she allows the transmission through.
"Percy, dear, it's the middle of the night. What could you possibly be calling about?"
"I'm sorry Marionne, my love, but this is important news. We have a daughter."
"...Percy, you had an affair!?"
