early life
- Born in Gelmorra to Duskwight parents, Percevain and Marionne Lundevidenoir, Dianne's family had a quiet life until she was about 5, at which time a tremor collapsed a section of the tunnels nearby their home. Deeming the crumbling subterranean city too much of a risk for their growing daughter, the Lundevidenoirs moved to Gridania on the surface.
- In Gridania, the Duskwight family faced heavy discrimination and prejudice, with her father struggling to find a workplace that would offer him a steady position. Though they hated the idea of having to up and move a second time so soon, it was necessary both for their finances and their happiness. Packing up their belongings, they took an airship to Limsa Lominsa to start anew.
- The family was finally able to settle down, Percevain got a well-paying job working on a state-sanctioned pirate crew, while Marionne stayed at home, occasionally selling her weaving to bring in extra income. Dianne usually stayed with her mother, but occasionally her father would bring her along on his work, where he and his crewmates took to teaching the young girl their ways.
adventuring career
- Among other things Dianne picked up during that time, she became a deft hand with a pair of knives. Once she was older, she was recommended to seek out the Dutiful Sisters of Edelweiss (aka the Rogue's Guild), where she found employment and further training. After some time working with the Sisters, Dianne officially applied to be an adventurer signed to the Limsa Lominsa Adventurer's Guild.
- Bringing her skills in scouting and knifework to help out the people of La Noscea, she grew in experience and gained a drive to explore further and see the rest of Eorzea. She set out to travel the continent, first visiting Ul'Dah, being the last of the three major city-states she had yet to see.
- During her time in Ul'Dah, Dianne met a thaumaturge, and was enthralled by their magic. The kindly mage taught her the basics of the craft. Not great at directly casting the spells, Dianne instead channels the magic through her knives, which are engraved with traditional Duskwight enchanting runes.
recent developments
- Originally at the urging of some friends, but now for her own reasons, Dianne has begun getting more formal training in thaumaturgy and spellcraft to better control her magic in it's raw form.
- Throughout her training regimen, Dianne has been having incredible difficulty with channeling the destructive Astral Fire that thaumaturges are known for, despite excelling in the field of Umbral Ice.
- After a trip to Sharlayan to visit a professional aetherologist, Dianne has learned that her soul is heavily umbral-aspected, and is starting to come to terms with what that means for her going forward.
- Looking to correct her imbalance, Dianne takes the offer of her friend Izaya Yuukimura to perform a cleansing ritual on her aether signature. Undergoing the ritual, Dianne suffers from worsening sickness for the following days until she comes to a realization about herself, choosing to live with her darkness rather than reject it.
- Dianne joins House Asamos, pledging to help her cousin-slash-new-lord Sathies Asamos with his affairs in Ishgard. With her first official job as house ward being a high-stakes murder investigation with threats of suicide from the man they were questioning, Dianne is having second thoughts on if she is cut out for the role.
- After several fun weeks spending time with her close friend Kjellska Olgasch, Dianne tearfully sees Kjellska off as she goes on an extended trip to her homeland of Bozja. She's hit hard by the realization that her friend will no longer be around for the forseeable future, and is doing her best to cope.
- With the use of Astral Fire being dangerous with her aether, Dianne quits her studies of Ul'Dahn thaumaturgy, choosing to do independent study while looking for a new magic tutor. Her independence didn't last long, as she has been taken under the wings of skilled mages Lolonji Lon and Hermes Fargo as an apprentice.
